EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES, ONE DEGREE AT A TIME
CAN partners with high schools and communities to expand what’s possible. Our AmeriCorps College Coaches develop meaningful relationships with students, transforming their journey into manageable steps to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed. We offer support from high school through college graduation—until students return home as leaders, inspiring their communities for generations to come.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY & DEMOGRAPHICS
Most CAN students begin engaging with our High School Services in 11th grade, and their support continues through high school graduation to degree completion. Participation in CAN’s program is voluntary and free to students. All students with an economic need and a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher are eligible to enroll.
CAN is committed to serving the high schools with the highest need (e.g., high number of students enrolled in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program) and the fewest resources (e.g., lack of college access support such as a high counselor to student ratio). All of CAN’s students are from low-income households: 100% of our students self-report their family income or their eligibility for governmental benefits such as Free & Reduced Lunch.
