A YEAR OF GROWTH...
A heartfelt thank you for turning your passion into action so that all students have the opportunity to earn a college degree. Together, we have a profound impact on our community.
This has been an exciting year for CAN students! In 2016-2017, we launched our program in two new districts and four new high schools, serving a total of nine hundred 11th and 12th graders. Our expansion goals were very intentional – reach beyond Seattle to serve students in high schools with the greatest need and fewest resources. This took us farther into South King County - to Federal Way Public Schools and Renton School District. We are proud to say that with your support, CAN’s high school graduating class of 2017 was nearly five hundred students.
Knowing that college entrance is the first step, CAN is committed to providing on-going support to students – whatever their higher education path is – through college graduation. This year we served 1,100 college students to ensure their success in their higher education journey.
CAN students continue to prove that they have the drive and potential to thrive in college. We are grateful for your partnership in ensuring that CAN’s vision comes true – all students regardless of income or background have the opportunity to graduate college.
With your support, we are preparing an educated and diverse work force – to make a real difference – not just in the lives for a select few, but for all students, their families, and the larger community.

CAN's ability to expand our programming to an additional 350 students was made possible by increasing our valued AmeriCorps team from 20 to 30 members. CAN received a multi-year grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to expand our AmeriCorps program.
Getting into college is the first step! Upon high school graduation, CAN continues support for students from the summer before college for up to six years through degree completion. CAN students' success rate speaks for itself: CAN students are graduating at rates equal to - or better than - their more advantaged peers - in our region and across the nation.
As we expanded our services in high school, we also had the opportunity to support more students in college- as they navigate the transition to and through college.
"I can be a force of positive change as I continue to share my experience with others and seek equitable solutions to difficult problems."

Our promise to our students is to be here for them until they graduate college. Our primary financial objective is to create a sustainable financial model that makes good on our promise. As CAN expands to serve more students, sustainability requires diverse sources of funding and a watchful eye on expenses to ensure a high return on your investment - more students achieving their dream of a college degree.
"Thank you for introducing us to such a wonderful organization! Seeing all of the students in person inspired a lot of hope, and we need hope in the future. It made me even more grateful for all the people who encouraged and supported me when I was in high school. It felt great to help others get the mentorship that is so vital at this stage in their lives."
